Students from Overton ISD had the opportunity to take part in the Region 7 Annual Food Show today at the Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview. Invited by Cafeteria Director Jessica Brown, our Mustang Ambassadors, along with student representatives from the middle and elementary campuses, joined food service directors and peers from across East Texas to explore new menu possibilities for the coming year.
The students sampled a wide variety of cuisines from numerous vendors, taking notes on their favorite dishes and discussing what might make a good fit for Overton’s cafeteria. From creative takes on classic comfort foods to nutritious new options, the event offered a fun and flavorful learning experience.
Next month, the Ambassadors will meet again with Ms. Brown to debrief and provide feedback that will help shape next year’s school menus. Their input ensures that student voices play a meaningful role in decisions that affect everyday life on campus and helps foster leadership, ownership, and pride in the Mustang experience.
