Overton ISD is proud to recognize the Bruce McMillan Jr. Foundation for its tremendous and ongoing support of our schools and students. For decades, the Foundation has been a steadfast partner in education, making investments that have shaped the very foundation of our district while continuing to create opportunities for students today.
Many of the facilities and resources we rely on each day bear the mark of the Foundation’s generosity. Their legacy includes a long-term land use agreement that provides space for the Overton ISD Agriculture Farm, a major multi-year investment that made possible the construction of the McMillan Agriculture Shop, and the gift of the structure that now houses our administration offices and board room. These contributions have left a permanent imprint on the educational and community landscape of Overton ISD.
The Foundation’s impact has also been deeply personal. Our very own elementary principal, Mrs. Nikki Fenter, was once a recipient of the Bruce McMillan Jr. Scholarship as a high school senior—a living reminder of how their commitment to students extends across generations.
In more recent years, the Foundation has continued this tradition of giving, providing:
Ongoing support for student nutrition, helping ensure every student receives a healthy meal each day.
Investments in campus safety with fencing, security gates, and video intercom systems.
Enhanced learning and community experiences through new audio/visual equipment in the Overton ISD Auditorium.
Expanded opportunities in science, technology, and robotics through the creation of an Elementary Science and Robotics Lab.
These contributions—past and present—go far beyond buildings and equipment. They represent a commitment to our students’ growth, safety, and success, ensuring they are prepared for the future.
“Overton ISD is deeply grateful to the Bruce McMillan Jr. Foundation, President Todd Meadows, and the Foundation’s board members for their gracious and continued support,” said Superintendent Larry Calhoun. “Their generosity has touched every part of our district and continues to open doors of opportunity for our students. The Foundation’s legacy will benefit generations of Mustangs to come.”
The Overton ISD community proudly celebrates this remarkable partnership and looks forward to continuing to build upon the legacy of the Bruce McMillan Jr. Foundation in the years ahead.
