Shane McCasland

Board of Trustees, Overton ISD
President

Shane McCasland has served on the Overton ISD School Board for 14 years and currently leads as Board President. Known for his deep-rooted commitment to the community and a heart for students, Shane brings steady leadership, practical insight, and a passion for service to the boardroom.

A graduate of Carlisle High School, Shane was awarded a McMillan Scholarship to study agriculture at Kilgore College. He left college to support his family and begin full-time work when his father was diagnosed with cancer. Though he did not earn a college degree, Shane's entrepreneurial spirit has guided a successful career. He owns McCasland Investments, a company that has served automobile dealerships across East Texas for the past 25 years. He also operates a cattle business and brings the same work ethic and values from his family’s former logging company into all that he does.

Shane is the proud father of six children—Chase (24), Grant (21), Colton (20), Rylie (16), Katie (13), and Gabriel (10). His life revolves around faith, family, and giving back. He attends First Baptist Church in Overton and has volunteered in the past as a youth sports coach. His connection to Overton runs generations deep—his great-grandparents lived in Overton, and his grandmother was an Overton ISD student.

While his original motivation for joining the board stemmed from concerns about a previous building project, Shane’s purpose quickly evolved into a deep love for the school, the students, and the community. As Board President, his priority is helping every student reach their full potential and preparing them to become strong, contributing citizens.

When he's not serving the district or managing his businesses, Shane enjoys spending time with his kids, hunting, showing cattle, and cheering on the Mustangs.

Favorite Scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." — Proverbs 3:5-6

Personal Note: “I love our school! We have a ton of exceptional people that I'm blessed to associate with.”
