OHS RECOGNIZED BY US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

US News and World Report released their annual rankings of high schools across the nation. Over 29,000 high schools were reviewed across the USA and only a small percentage were recognized for accomplishments in graduation rates, college readiness, and standardized test scores. There are 1,915 high schools in Texas and only 466 received honors from US News and World Report’s rankings. Overton High School received a Bronze Medal recognition. Based on 2014-2015 information, OHS had a 100% graduation rate and 96.7% of graduates were college and career ready according to the Texas Education Agency. There were a total of 22 high schools recognized in the Region 7 Education Service Center’s area out of approximately 107 high schools. Other high schools recognized in ESC 7 include: Hudson, Zavalla, White Oak, Harleton, Brownsboro, Eustace, Cushing, Garrison, Central Heights, Martinsville, Broaddus, Shelbyville, Lindale, Big Sandy, Gilmer, Union Hill, Martins Mill, Fruitvale, Yantis, Alba-Golden, and Winnsboro.
